Last summer, after teaching the Iceland nude photo workshop, I took a remarkably talented dancer to a geothermal vent on the Reykennes Peninsula. Once I nailed down the camera position, I showed Bryndis the framing so she knew her scale relationship to the frame. Then I shared with her my idea.
Before the Buddha attained enlightenment, the story is that Mara sent his three daughters to seduce the Buddha to dissuade him from his spiritual path. I asked Bryndis to interpret this visually, and as we shot, I would continually show her the images on the LCD to refine the work. There were so many powerful poses that came through, but from this image I think you can see why I love to work with dancers, and recommend them so highly.
The Nude Photo Workshop in Iceland is scheduled for July 1st-7th, and registration is closing May 31st. Last year’s course was an overwhelming success, and this year promises to be a great one, chock full of valuable tips on how to shoot the figure in landscape.
