Iceland Nude Photo Workshop update

0

We’re just about a month away from the Iceland nude photo workshop, and I’m writing to you about a wonderful opportunity.

We have three people signed up at this point which is below the threshold for making the numbers work for this course.  So Einar and I have been talking about how we might restructure things, and I think we have come up with a couple of great options.

You may know that I often teach private mentorships, and we decided we could conduct the course more along those lines.  Here’s what that would mean if you decide to enroll:

1-Rather than hire one model for each three attendees as we do for normal workshops (resulting in 20 minutes of shooting per hour), we will hire one model for each participant so you each will be shooting all the time with a model.  So instead of shooting for a couple of hours total over the whole day, you would more likely shoot for 5-6 hours each day.

2-You will have the opportunity to work with more models than what would have been the case in the workshop (three or more under this new plan vs two in the workshop).  I have several terrific dancers/models lined up that we will be bringing in from London.  More on that later.

3-We will target two regions of the country we feel will maximize our shooting opportunities, one close to Reykvavik, and one in the south of the island.  By focusing on these two areas, we can select hotels in each region that would lessen travel time to location and maximize the shooting time each day.  We are not going to compromise on the quality of the lodging.

4-We are going to reduce the number of days of shooting from five to four.  Since we are traveling less and there is three times as many hours behind the camera compared to the workshop, you’ll still have almost two and a half times more shooting.

5-If you choose, you can fly home on Friday.  But if you would like, you could attend, for free, two days of lectures by the renowned Adobe evangelist and lecturer Julianne Kost.  Friday would be a lecture on Photoshop CS6, and Saturday, a lecture on Lightroom 4.  This is an amazing opportunity to learn from one of the true masters in the industry, and your only extra cost would be hotel and per diems!

So here is the plan as we envision it.

Sunday July 1st
Evening lecture and portfolio review

Monday July 2nd-Thursday July 5th
Location shoots

Friday, July 6th
Choice of departure for home or stay for bonus Photoshop lecture

Saturday July 7th
Bonus Lightroom lecture

So to summarize:
2.5 times more shooting time
More models to work with
More personalized instruction
Free lectures on Photoshop and Lightroom

All for just $9945.

I’ve lined up several terrific dancer/models and I’m happy to share their profiles with you.  Just let me know.  I’m excited by who they are, and the skill set they will bring to the course.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you with your thoughts, and any questions you may have. We do need to make our commitments to the hotels by Wednesday morning, May 30th so please get back to us before this opportunity goes away!

Warm regards,

Allen and Einar

Testimonials

“Allen is a most gifted teacher, and for anyone considering a unique opportunity to visit a beautiful country and learn a form of photography under a true artist,  this is it.   I have great memories of the workshop and cherish what I learned and the beautiful images I was able to capture.”-Marc Safran, Liverpool NY

“We had a wonderful trip and one that I will always cherish.  Iceland is truly a special place.  Add to that the wonderful fellowship that was such a big part of the trip and the great photos we got and the result is an amazing experience.” -Keith M, Atlanta GA

“It was quite rewarding in studying how Allen worked; how he was looking for the right spot at a location, and how he would direct the model to get the pose and expression he was looking for  But after the demonstrations, Allen was watching us and giving us advice to improve our images, the camera position and the position of the model(s).  At the end of the workshop Allen went through the images we had chosen for critique, and his comments were invaluable.

Value for the money?  Absolutely – every penny!! Highly recommended.”-Sjur Roald, Vigra Norway

Kudos

"Allen is a visually and conceptually gifted photographer in both the commercial and fine art realms." Scott Hutchison Director of Visual Arts UCLA Extension, Los Angeles, CA
